Established in 1998, Mbugwa, Atudo & Macharia Advocates is a leading medium size law firm in Kenya.

What we do

Banking & Finance

The firm is proud to have represented a variety of banks, finance companies, private investment funds, and other entities, as well as developers and other borrowers, related to the financing of real property, business acquisitions or dispositions, receivables, and other assets. The capabilities of our commercial department is all-encompassing and include the initial structuring and closing of finance transactions, loan administration, workouts, and loan restructures.

Civil Litigation

Our firm seeks to understand our clients’ legal and business objectives and to map out a strategy to satisfy both those objectives. In this respect, we give our clients a prompt, honest, and practical evaluation of their legal position. The firm is vastly experienced in representing various clients in prosecuting and defending constitutional references and judicial review proceedings. It also advises on constitutional provisions especially elections and preparing legal opinions on the same for parastatals and corporate clients.

Pro bono / CSR activities

The firm represented the Law Society of Kenya in Constitutional Petition No. 5 of 2018, Jackson Mukhongo & Others vs The Attorney General and in Judicial Review No. 364 of 2018, Francis Andrew Moriasi vs The Attorney General and the Law Society of Kenya where the applicants sought orders to restrain the respondent from implementing their circular titled, Guidelines on Provision of Legal Services by the Office of the Attorney General and the Department of Justice.

Mr. Kamau is a director of Tumshangilieni Mtoto which is a Non-governmental organization that empowers former street children and helps provide them with a home, education, performing arts training and medical care.
